Mr. H. C. Fager, died on the 15th day of August 1895, at his home on Queen street, of abscess on the liver. Henry Creeps Fager came to Windsor in 1866, engaged in the saw mill business which at that time was a profitable business in the South. He was born Sept. 22nd, 1836, and raised to manhood in the State of Pennsylvania, and was of German extraction.
In July 1868, he married Miss Virginia Gillam -- the result of which union was the birth of several children; four daughters and one son survived him.
Mr. Fager was acknowledged to be the very best mechanic that Windsor ever had. True there have been many good mechanics in Bertie, but Mr. Fager's skill, wide and varied in the use of the square and compass which entitled him. He was laid away in the Methodist church yard with Masonic honors.
The LEDGER extends to the family its sincere sympathy -- his death is only another evidence that "life is but a walking shadow."
