The service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at the J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, 24 Second St., New Freedom. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery in Parkton, Md. Viewing will be 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary.
Mr. Poehlitz was born July 2, 1922, in Baltimore. He was the son of the late Milton and Anne (Myers) Poehlitz.
He was a clerk for Black and Decker Inc. in Towson and Hampstead, Md., retiring in 1981 after 35 years of service. He was head usher at Parke Memorial United Methodist Church in Parkton, Md., and a member of Hereford Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10739.
Mr. Poehlitz also is survived by a half brother, John Earl Cox of Baltimore; and nieces and nephews. Officiating at the service will be his pastor, the Rev. John W. Nupp.

William married Nellie Christine Beeker, daughter of Murle Rode Beeker and Laura Christine Wood, after Jan 1950.
