Gridsine [sic, as indexed in census because of terrible handwriting by census taker], assistant manager in coffee and tea store, 44, living with wife Ina P., 44; adopted daughter Imogene Gridsine, 16; daughter Colleen, 5; and father-in-law Randolph F. Pruitt, widowed, 83. The census column records Charles and Ina were married at age 34. Charles and Ina were born in Kansas, his parents in United States and her father in Indiana and mother in Iowa. The children were born in Colorado and their parents in Kansas. Randolph was born in Indiana and his parents in Virginia.

2. Census in 1940 in Rapid City, Pennington, SD, USA. ³ The 1940 census recorded renting for $20 a month at 105 E. St. Joe Street: Chas. E. Grissom, salesman for B. H. Coffee Tea Co., 57, living with wife Ina, 57; and daughter Shirley, 15. In 1935 they were living in Casper, Wyoming. Charles and Ina were born in Kansas and Shirley in Colorado.

3. Residence: 3847 East 14th St., Long Beach, California on 20 Nov 1951 in Long Beach, Los Angeles, CA. ⁴ Mrs. Shirley Webb is the informant on her father Charles Grissom's California death certificate.
