The census columns record they were married for 4 years and she had birthed 0 children by 1910. Joseph was born in Illinois, his wife in Indiana and mother in Michigan. Leona and her parents were born in Indiana. Next door is Joseph's brother, farmer, Frank Pruitt, 39, with his wife Myrtle, 33, and their children.

2. Census in 1920 in Wellington, Iroquois, IL. 5 The 1920 census recorded owning a home: Joe Pruit, Jr. [sic], farmer, 39, living with wife Leonice [sic, as indexed due to poor handwriting of Leona], 35, and daughter Mary A., 5. Joseph was married at age 26 and Leona at 22. Joseph was born in Illinois, his father in Indiana and mother in Michigan. Leona and her father were born in Indiana and her mother in Illinois. Mary was born in Illinois.

Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Tedford received word of the death of the latter's sister, Mrs. Leona Eckman Pruitt, which occurred Sunday morning, in Philadelphia, where Mr. and Mrs. Pruitt had been making their home with their daughter. Mrs. Mary Harlan. Mrs. Pruitt had not been well for some time and, only recently, had suffered a fractured arm and a fractured hip.
She was a daughter of the late J. J. Eckman and Mary Petit Eckman, and was born in Goodland, in the home of her maternal grandparents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Antoine Petit. Goodland was her home for several years, during the time her father, Mr. Eckman, served as Principal of Goodland Schools. However the greater part of her life was spent in Illinois where she was married to Joseph Pruitt and where they lived near East Lynn, Wellington and Hoopeston, Ill. Upon retirement from farming the home was established in Hoopeston, until about three years ago, they joined their daughter in Philadelphia.
Surviving with the husband, the daughter, Mrs. Harlan, and the sister, Mrs. Tedford, is a granddaughter, Mary Jo Harlan of Philadelphia, and a brother, Claude A. Eckman of Battle Creek, Mich. The body was brought to Hoopeston where funeral services were scheduled for Thursday morning, at the Wood Funeral Home, with burial in Floral Hill, Hoopeston.


Leona married Joseph Hurd Pruitt, son of Joseph Austin Pruitt and Augusta Lydia Hurd, about 1906. (Joseph Hurd Pruitt was born on 13 Feb 1880 in Lovejoy Township, Iroquois, IL,9 10 died on 27 Dec 1965 in New York, New York, NY 9 11 12 and was buried in Lovejoy Township: Floral Hill Cemetery, Iroquois, IL 9.)
