The marriage of Miss Rebecca Bucher, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Bucher, of Adamstown, to Wilbur Glass, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Glass, of Adamstown, took place last Saturday evening at 6:30 o'clock in Emmanuel E. C. Church, Adamstown. The Rev. R. D. Kriebel officiated and the members of the immediate families attended.

Glass, 92, died of natural causes in his residence at The Highlands, Wyomissing on June 3, 2008. His wife, Rebecca, died November 13, 2002. Born June 3, 1916 in Adamstown, Mr. Glass was the eldest of four sons born and raised by his parents, Charles and Carrie (Gehman) Glass. Surviving is a brother, Forrest W. Glass and his wife Darlene (Hershey), Phoebe-Berks Village, Wernersville. He was predeceased by two brothers, Frederick and Lowell. Surviving children are Linda E. Tomlinson, West Lawn; Curtis A Glass and his wife Sandra (Rutt), Wyomissing, and Gordon L. Glass and his wife Calli (Grivas), Reinholds. He was predeceased by a son, Henry W. Glass, on May 1, 1953. There are four grandchildren: Wendy (Glass) Ganderson, wife of Steven Ganderson, Chesapeake, VA: Audrey (Glass) Mikita, wife of Joseph Mikita, Plano, TX; Anthony Glass and Gina Glass, Reinholds. He has four great grandchildren: Rachel and David Ganderson, both of Chesapeake, VA and Caroline and Allison Mikita, both of Plano, TX. Upon graduation from Ephrata High School in 1933, Mr. Glass began his employment with the Bollman Hat Company as a dye house employee, the start of a career with the company that would span 47 years. In 1950, he was promoted to manager of the company's men's hat division. He was named Vice President - Manufacturing in 1966 and five years later was elected as President, a position he held for ten years until his retirement in 1981. He was a lifetime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Adamstown where he taught Sunday School, served on Church Council and on various committees. An active proponent of community service and volunteerism, Mr. Glass was a charter member of the Adamstown Lions Club and was elected its first President in 1938. He was a founding member of the Adamstown Athletic Association and was named its first President in 1938. The association would later be reorganized as the Adamstown YMCA. Mr. Glass served on the school boards of the Adamstown Elementary School and the Cocalico Union High School, serving as President of the Cocalico Board for four years. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Ephrata Community Hospital, the United Way of Lancaster County, the Cedar Grove Cemetery Association and the Lancaster County Manufacturers Association. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2008 at 11:00 AM in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 80 E. Main St., Adamstown, PA 19501, followed by a reception in the fellowship hall. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wilbur's church or the Adamstown YMCA, 71 E. Main St., Adamstown, PA 19501 www.roseborofuneralhome.com.
