Smith, 57, 43 Lehman St., died in the Hershey Medical Center Monday evening after an illness of one year. Born in Lebanon, he was a son of Dorothy Lynch Smith and the late Lester L. Smith. Retired from the Bethlehem Steel Corp., he was a veteran of World War II, worshiped in the Catholic faith, and was a member of the Liberty Fire Co., Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Orioles and the Lebanon Hook and Ladder Fire Co. Surviving are a daughter, Faye, wife of Todd Shumacher, Wilmington, N.C.; four grandchildren; and three sisters, all of Lebanon, Nancy Trostle, Patricia Harmuth and Kay Peiffer.
