Tara Mellick of San Luis Obispo and Matthew Beecher of San Luis Obispo were married Aug. 8, 1998 at the Shore Cliff Resort in Pismo Beach. The Rev. Barbara Haddon of First Presbyterian Church officiated. Calie McElwain of Atascadero was maid of honor and Jim Tod of Fresno was best man. A reception followed at the Shore Cliff Resort. The couple honeymooned in Monterey and Aptos. The bride is the daughter of Joyce and Dwight Peterson of Atascadero and Allen Mellick of Ojai. She is a 1969 graduate of Atascadero High School and a 1996 graduate of Cal Poly. She is employed as head teacher for the Children's Center at Cal Poly. The groom is the son of Bud and Nellie Beecher of San Luis Obispo. He graduated from San Luis Obispo High School in 1988 and from Cal Poly in 1991. He is an accountant and CPA for Glenn Burdette Phillips & Bryson CPAs in San Luis Obispo. Their first home will be in Morro Bay.
