The children and their mother were born in Pennsylvania, their father in England. Robert and Margaret were married for 9 years and she had birthed 2 children by 1900, both alive. 2. Cause of Death: Margaret died at Chanick Convalescent Home from carcinoma of large intestine, 1 Aug 1942, Philadelphia, Philadelphia, PA. 3 3. Obituary: Pottsville Republican: obituary Mrs. Robert Scholes on 3 Aug 1942 in Pottsgrove Twp., Montgomery, PA. 4 Mrs. Robert Scholes, resident of Jacksons almost all her life, died Saturday at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Frank, of Phila. following a lengthy illness although she was bedfast but one week. Born in Jacksons, she was the former Margaret Redhahn [sic should be Rephahn], and she resided there until six months when she moved to Phila. She was a member of the Primitive Methodist Church, Mahanoy City. Her husband died eleven years ago. Surviving are two sons, the Rev. Peter. Scholes, pastor of the Primitive Methodist Church, Nanticoke; and John, of Mahanoy City; one daughter, Matilda, wife of Ralph Frank, Phila.; one brother, Peter Redhahn, of Jacksons; one stepsister Elizabeth, wife of George Hassell, of Jacksons and one half-brother, Anthony Theodore, of Pottsville. The body was removed to the home of her son, John, 113 West Spruce St., from which burial will be held. H. P. Clifford is the funeral director in charge.
