Mr. Franklin, a member of Operating Engineers Local 542 for more than 30 years, worked for I.D. Griffith Inc. of Wilmington from 1966 until retiring in 1981. Earlier, he worked for Harvey Escott Plumbing Co. in Wilmington. He was a member of Elsmere Presbyterian Church and the National Rifle Association. J Survivors: wife, Leona Franklin; sons, Carl J. Jr. of Wilmington, Steven R. of East Haven, Conn., and Raymond C. of Marshallton; daughters, Nancy L. Rambo of Elsmere and Kimberly Franklin Mullins at home; sisters, Pauline Miller of Reading, Pa., and Virginia Coates of Oxford, Pa.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Service: 11 a.m. today Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Highway, Elsmere. Visitation: 10 a.m. Burial: Silverbrook Cemetery, Lancaster Avenue and Du Pont Road. Contributions: Elsmere Presbyterian Church.
