Newspaper: The Sentinel: Heather Beecher Gets National Award, 7 Feb 1999, Carlisle, Cumberland, PA. ³ Heather Beecher, daughter of Beth and Keith Beecher of Wormleysburg, has been named a national award winner from the United Slates Achievement Academy, the Presidential Fitness Award for cheerleading and recently nominated for the Prudential Youth Leadership and community service award. She is an eighth-grade honor student at Lemoyne Middle School, and an active volunteer at Susquehanna Nursing Center in Harrisburg. She spends volunteer hours helping the residents play bingo, visits one-on-one with residents in their rooms, decorates bulletin boards and delivers mail. She has over 100 hours of service. She also volunteers her time as a member of the Compassionate Ministries at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Enola. She makes get-well cards and thank-you cards for caretakers of shut-ins. She cheers for the Central Perm All-Stars. She will be going to Dallas, Texas this month with the All-Star Gators for the national cheerleaders competition. She also plays softball for Keystone Thunder and field hockey for the freshman team at Cedar Cliff High School.
