Born in Cumru Twp., she was the daughter of the late William H. and Bertha M. (Ruffner) Kohl.

Betty retired in 1990 after 28 years of service with the Governor Mifflin School District, last working as a secretary. She was an active member of the Allegheny United Church of Christ as well as a lifetime member of the Brecknock Twp. Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.

Surviving are children: Barbara M. Reisch, of Cumru Twp.; Barry D. (Kathryn) Bender, of Toronto, Ohio; and Beverly F. Bender, of Brecknock Twp. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Denis Reisch, Father John Bender, Michael Bender, Brother Matthew Bender and Mary Kathryn Bender.

She was predeceased by seven siblings.

A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, July 1, 2018, at 4:00 p.m. at Allegheny United Church of Christ, 1219 Kurtz Mill Road, Mohnton, PA 19540, with Pastor Martha M. Smith officiating. Friends may call to greet the family on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the church.

Betty married Robert Elmer Bender, son of Charles Elmer Bender and Minnie Barbara Bicher, on 16 Aug 1947 in Gouglersville, Berks, PA, USA.¹ (Robert Elmer Bender was born on 19 Dec 1913 in Cumru Twp., Berks, PA,^{1 4 5 6} died on 7 Jun 1998 in Spring Twp., Berks, PA ^{4 5} and was buried on 11 Jun 1998 in Mohnton: Allegheny Union Cemetery New, Berks, PA, USA ⁵.)
