He retired as a union painter with the International Brotherhood of Painters and Allied Trades Union Local 411; was an Army Veteran having served in the Korean War; was a life member and charter member of the AMVETS Post 286, Rutherford; a life member and Past Commander of the American Legion Post 420, Steelton; a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1213, Rutherford; and a member of the 40 & 8 Voiture Locale 269, Chambers Hill.
He is survived by his wife, Bernice Zimmerman Schroll; two sons, Harry A. Schroll, Jr., of Lower Swatara Township, and James A. Schroll of Muir; three daughters, Stephanie K. Hiler of Erie, Juanita M. Mort of Hummelstown, and Sherry L. Farver of Bainbridge; seven sisters, Ruth Carricato, Pearl Kope, Jenny Martin and Emma Scheiber, all of Steelton, Lillian Mixell of Harrisburg, Helen Anthony and Barbara Barrett, both of Enola; five brothers, Thomas Weyant of Middletown, Samuel Weyant of Hanover, Norman Weyant and Albert Weyant, both of New Bloomfield, and David Weyant of Summerdale; 14 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held Friday, September 20, 2002, at 2 p.m. in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown. There will be no viewing or visitation.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Capital Region Unit, 3211 North Front Street, Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110, or to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society of Central Pennsylvania, 2209 Forest Hills Drive, Harrisburg, PA 17112.
