Obituary: News Journal: obituary of Stefan Gorski on 5 Nov 2010 in Wilmington, New Castle, DE. ³ Stefan Gorski Age 86, of Wilmington, DE, passed away Wednesday, November 3, 2010 with his wife and family by his side at Heartland Hospice House. Born August 12, 1924 in Krynica, Poland, he was the son of the late Jan Gorski and Maria Zbos and was one of 8 brothers and 1 sister. Mr. Gorski enlisted in the Polish National Guard when WWII broke out in 1939 and served his country along with 4 of his brothers throughout WWII, He spent 1940-1945 in Germany forced labor camp. From 1945-1949 he served as a Sergeant in the Polish Guard Co. for the 99th Lab Super Co. A.P.O. 696 under the U.S. Army in Nuremberg, Germany. He immigrated to the USA in 1949 on the USS General Heintzelman. Between 1950-1954 he worked as a machinist at Dupont Co., Wilmington Shops. From 1954-1989 he worked at the All American Engineering Co. where, after 35 years of dedicated service, he retired as a Master Machinist. Mr. Gorski enjoyed spending his time with his wife and children, playing soccer for the Delaware Wings Soccer Team, and following the news and sports. He was also an active member of the Pulaski Legion and AMPOL. He is survived by his loving wife, Halina of Wilmington, DE; his son, Edward of Chicago, IL; his daughter, Barbara and her husband Cliff Fanner of Newark, DE; his granddaughter, Stefani of Greenville, SC; and his grandson, Brandon of Hoboken, NJ. Services and burial will be private. In memory of Stefan Gorski, contributions may be made to St. Hedwig's Church, 408 S. Harrison St., Wilmington, DE 19805.
