Obituary: Salisbury Post: obituary of Richard Boyd Lingafelt on 19 Nov 2005 in Salisbury, Rowan, NC, USA. ² SALISBURY - Richard Boyd Lingafelt, 84, of Salisbury, died Thursday, Nov. 17, 2005, at Hefner VA Medical Center. Born Oct. 21, 1921, in Morganton, he was the son of the late Hinkle M. and Beulah Henson Lingafelt. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during WWII, he was a gunner 's mate second class. He was past commander of the Harold B. Jarrett and Kennedy Hall Legion Posts and past 19th District commander. He was more recently a member of the Harold B. Jarrett Post 342, the VFW Post 3006 and was former Chef de Garde of the Voiture 115 of the 40 & amp;8. He retired from Catawba College as maintenance supervisor. He was preceded in death by his wife, Deanna Spielvogel "Dee" Lingafelt on Nov. 4, 1999; brothers Oscar and Manuel Lingafelt; and sister Macie Stratton. Survivors include daughters Linda Lingafelt Hamrick of Forest City, Janice L. Beach of Newland, Denise Lingafelt Causby of Morganton and Renae Lingafelt-Beeker of Salisbury; sisters Vivian Schuszler of Morganton, Inez Sewell of Ashburn, Va., Rassie LaTella of Peachtree City, Ga., and Mardie Digh of Morganton; grandchildren Michael Bridges, Kim Morrow and Jason Causby; and great-grandchildren Kaleb Morrow and Kyle Morrow. Visitation: 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Summersett Funeral Home. Service : A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Second Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Ann-Aline Drake officiating. Burial will follow at Rowan Memorial Park with military honors conducted by the Rowan County Military Honor Guard. At other times, the family will be at the home of daughter Renae Lingafelt-Beeker, 303 Balfour Drive, Salisbury.
