Funeral services for Leroy L. Burns, owner of a candy stores where he made his own candy for 45 years, will be held at 2 P.M. tomorrow at the Donovan's funeral establishment, 3818 Roland avenue.
Mr. Burns, who was 71, died a Friday at the Bolton Manor nursing home of cancer. A native of Baltimore, Mr. Burns owned an operated the Burns Confectionery and Toy Store on Thirty-sixth street since 1922.
Had Own Kitchen
At the store, he had his own candy kitchen where he made all of his chocolate candies. According to his wife, Mrs. Ruth A. Burns, he was one of the last candy store owners in Baltimore who made his own candy. Mr. Burns was also one of the few persons in Baltimore who maintained a doll hospital. As a youngster, he learned how to fix dolls from a neighbor and continued the practice at his store. He specialized in repairing antique European dolls.
GOP Election Judge
For the past 40 years, he was a Republican election judge and was an active member of the Hampden Methodist Church, 3449 Falls road. Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Vernon L. Burns, of Pasadena, Md., and Richard T. Burns, of Long Green, Md., and three grandchildren.
