1. Obituary: Fort Scott Daily Tribune: obituary of Mrs. Grace S. Livingston on 3 Feb 1921 in Fort Scott, Bourbon, KS. 3 DIPHTHERIA CAUSES DEATH Mrs. Grace S. Livingston, a High School Teacher, Passed Away Last Evening. Grace S. Livingston, wife of George H. Livingston, a machinist, died last evening shortly before 8 clock at the family home, 20 North Grant. The cause of her death was diphtheria, she had been ill with the disease about ten days. Miss Grace Shean was born on October 14, 1878, at Black River Falls, being 42 years, 3 months and 18 days of age at her death. After her marriage to George Livingston they resided Baker, Montana, for a number of years. Five years ago the family came to Fort Scott. Mrs. Livingston lived a Christian life and was loved and respected by all who knew her. She had high ideals and was very ambitious and it was her great desire to make herself a useful woman in the community in which she lived, with no selfish motives, but always on the alert to help others. Up to the time of her illness she was enrolled at the Junior College taking a university course, which she hoped to complete at K. U. She was also a substitute teacher, and a number of times had taught in several of the classes. She was a graduate of law of the La Salle Extension University and was taking instruction in public speaking from the Homer Institute. Mrs. Livingston also studied law at the Peoples College. The deceased is survived by her husband and three children, the latter being Parker, aged 14, Barry, aged 12, and Esther aged 10. Her mother, Alamedia Shean, two sisters, Miss Margaret Shean and Mrs. Media Arnold and two brothers, Harrison and Emmet Shean, all of Baker, Mont., also survive. Mrs. Livingston was a member of the W. C. T. U. and the Yeoman's Lodge. The remains will be shipped to Kansas City Saturday to be cremated. A late announcement will be made in regard to services.
Grace married George Henry Livingston, son of Thomas Barry Livingston and Mary Elizabeth Springer, on 17 Sep 1902 in Midway, La Crosse, WI.1 (George Henry Livingston was born on 11 Jun 1872 in Midway, La Crosse, WI 4 and died on 10 Sep 1940 in Missoula, Missoula, MT 4.)
