1. Obituary: Allentown Leader: obituary of Solomon Shoemaker on 1 Oct 1900 in Allentown, Lehigh, PA. ² SOLOMON SHOEMAKER DEAD. Solomon Shoemaker died yesterday at the residence of his son David, 419 North Eighth Street, after being ill only a week. He suffered with bowel trouble and apoplexy. He was a farmer in his younger days and resided in Weisenburg. His age was 72 years, 5 months and 28 days. One son, David, survives him, besides four grandchildren, three great grandchildren and these sisters and brothers: Mrs. Hannah Fretz, Lehigh County; Mrs. Mary Snyder and Jacob Shoemaker, Rosedale, and a half-sister, Mrs. Amanda Diehl, Allentown. The funeral will be held Saturday, with services at Weisenburg Church, Rev. O. Leopold officiating.
