1. Obituary: on 13 Jul 2014 in Martinsville, Martinsville, VA. Mary Ruth Prater Brown age 81 of Martinsville went to be with the Lord on Sunday July 13, 2014. She was born March 17, 1933 in Bassett to the late John Quince and Nina Bryant Prater. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her brothers, Billy Jack Prater, and Robert F. Prater.

She was a member of Martinsville Church of God where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and played the piano and organ. She was retired from Memorial Hospital of Martinsville, and also worked part time at Roselawn Burial Park.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Rev. W. H. Brown of the home, one son, John H. Brown, one daughter, Julia Foley, three sisters, Rachel Turner, Martha Harmon, and Elaine Cassidy, five grandchildren, and one great grandchild.

The funeral service will be Tuesday July 15, 2014 at 2:00 pm in the Roselawn Chapel with Rev. Dale Dyer, Rev. Dwayne Pruitt, and Rev. Jackie Poe officiating. Entombment will follow in the Roselawn Mausoleum.

Arrangements are by Roselawn Chapel Funeral Home.
