2. Newspaper: Gettysburg Compiler: Asks court to Name Williams Administrator, 22 Oct 1938, Gettysburg, Adams, PA. 4 The probability that a damage action may be brought as a result of the fatal accident on the old York road in Cumberland county between the Carlisle-Mount Holly Springs highway and the Carlisle-Chambersburg road last October 31 is indicated in the papers on file in the office of Register Quintin D. Rebert.
Mrs. Anna Mary Beecher, widow of John Beecher who was killed in the automobile crash which also claimed the life of Ralph Williams, son of A. B. C. Williams, York Springs, petitioned Rebert for a citation to A. B. C. Williams or others to show cause why letters of administration should be be applied for and taken out in the Ralph Williams estate.
The citation was issued last week and Wednesday Deputy Sheriff B. E. Bixler filed a return showing he had served the paper on A. B. C. Williams. The citation directs Williams to appear before the court official on October 26.
In her petition for the order from Rebert, Mrs. Beecher made reference to the fatal accident and stated the crash was "caused, as your petitioned expects to be able to prove as a result of negligence of Ralph Williams and the right to action for said wrongful death of her husband accrues to the petitioner."
It was explained that the purpose in having an administrator named is to secure a person to represent the estate of the deceased York Springs youth in the event of a civil damage action.
