Everyone was born in Pennsylvania. The post office was Bendersville. 2. Obituary: Gettysburg Times: obituary of Michael F. Black on 9 Mar 1918 in Gettysburg, Adams, PA. 5 Michael F. Black, a vetern of the Civil War, and for twenty years mail carrier between Bendersville and Wenksville, died at five o'clock this morning at the home of his son, John Black, in Menallen township from a complication of diseases, he was aged 87 years, 9 months and 17 days. During the Civil War he served for three years and 9 months in Company G. 138th Regiment Pennsylvania Volunteers, under Captain G. W. Mullen and Captain George H. Waiters. He leaves the following sons and daughters: Charles Black, of Cumberland County; John Black, Menallen township; David Black of Carlisle; Samuel Black. Menallen township; Isaac Black. Cumberland County; Mrs. Martin McCauslin, and Calvin Black, of Menallen township; Edward Black, of Bendersville; 39 grand children, and a number of great grandchidren. Funeral Tuesday morning, meeting at the home of Juhn Black at 9:20. Services and interment in the Lutheran church at Bendersville conducted by Rev. W. D. E. Scott. Relatives and friends will accept this at notice of the funeral. Michael married Angelina Leeper on 11 Nov 1852 in Cumberland Twp., Adams, PA.1 2 (Angelina Leeper was born on 5 Sep 1830 in , , PA,3 7 died on 14 Aug 1900 in Menallen Twp., Adams, PA 7 and was buried in Bendersville: Bendersville Cemetery, Adams, PA 7.) |
