Wiestling, physician, 53, living with wife Catharine, 50; Mary Ellen, 24; Jacob G., physician, 23; Catharine A., 19; Ann E., 17; Joshua M., 12; and Julias A., 8. Eveyone was born in Pennsylvania. Joshua's real estate was valued at $8000.

Wiestling Family.
Joshua-Martin, b. October 5, 1837. He was educated in the private and select schools of Harrisburg, the Harrisburg Academy and the Cumberland Valley Institute. He entered Franklin and Marshall College in 1855, graduating therefrom in 1857. Began the study of law with A. J. Herr, Esq., and admitted to the Dauphin county bar, September 4, 1860. During the Rebellion he served as a second lieutenant, company D., One Hundred and Twenty-seventh regiment, Pa. Volunteers, and was promoted, September 1, 1862, to first lieutenant. On the 19th of March, 1868, he was appointed by Surgeon General King, of Pennsylvania, one of the commissioners to visit the general hospitals in the West, to look after and care for the sick and wounded Pennsylvania solders. He was the first register in bankruptcy under the National bankrupt act of 1867 for the Fourteenth Pennsylvania Congressional district, on the nomination of Chief Justice S. P. Chase, United States Supreme Court, May 29, 1867. He was discharged the duties of that office until early in the fall of 1868, when, being nominated for district attorney for the county of Dauphin, he resigned. He was elected district attorney, October 13, 1868, and re -elected October 10, 1871, serving two full terms. In 1890 removed to Seattle, State of Washington, where he is in the practice of his profession. Mr. Wiestling m. June 2, 1864, Georgianna Hoover, daughter of John and Sophia Hoover, of Gettysburg, Pa. They had issue:

Mr. Wiestling, son of the late Dr. and Mrs. Joshua M. Wiestling, of this city, resided here for a number of years and later moved West with his family. He was a lawyer and he and the late Mrs. Wiestling, the former Miss Georgianna Hoover, of Gettysburg, had a daughter, Georgia. They were active members of the Salem Reformed Church when they resided in Harrisbug. The Wiestling family home for many years was at 7 North Front street, the rpesent site of the University Club.

Mrs. Wiestling, whose husband was a prominent attorney in Harrisbug, was Miss Georgianna Hoover, of Gettysburg. Her husband's father, the late Dr. Joshua Martin Wiestling, was a physician in this city from 1821 until his death in 1854. The younger Mr. and Mrs. Wiestling were active members of Salem Reformed Church. They resided at the old Wiestling home, 7 North Front street, present site of the University Club, before removing to Seattle, Wash. The Wiestlings had a daughter, Georgia.


Joshua married Georgianna Hoover, daughter of John Hoover and Sophia Susanna Beecher, on 2 Jun 1864 in Harrisburg, Dauphin, PA.1 (Georgianna Hoover was born on 4 Nov 1844 in Arendtsville, Adams, PA 8 9 10, christened in Arendtsville: Arendtsville Union Church (Zion Lutheran and Trinity Reformed), Adams, PA,9 died on 16 Jun 1902 in Seattle, King, WA 10 and was buried in Seattle: Lake View Cemetery, King, WA 10.)
