CLEVELAND -- Augustus Clark Beeker, 92, of Route 2 died Thursday at V. A. Medical Center in Salisbury.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Summersett Funeral Home in Salisbury. Entombment will be in Rowan Memorial Park.
Born in Rowan County, Beeker served in the Army during World War I and retired from Southern Railway in 1957. He was a member of Knox Chapel United Methodist Church where he served on the administrative board and taught the Men's Bible class.
Surviving are wife, Mrs. Alaska Beeker; daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Howie of Austin, Texas, Mrs. Jeanie Stikeleather of Statesville, Mrs. Marie Kepley and Mrs. Ruth Bame of Salisbury; sisters Mae Childers of Mooresville, Hallie Hartman of Salisbury; 11 grandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. today.

Augustus married Alaska Carrie Vaught, daughter of Andrew Lee Vaught and Laura Ellen Stamper, on 15 Aug 1925 in Winston-Salem, Forsyth, NC, USA.¹ (Alaska Carrie Vaught was born on 3 Jun 1904 in , Grayson, VA ^{20 21} and died on 23 Jan 1998 in Salisbury, Rowan, NC, USA ^{20 21}.)
