Augusta was born on December 14, 1934, in Birmingham, Alabama to Samuel and Rosa Beeker. As a child she was the princess of her family. She was doted on by her parents, her sister Edna who was ten years older, and her beloved Aunt Annie. She was a joy to all around her and her many family members loved to spoil her.
Augusta met her husband, Alfred Dougherty, while they were still young. Alfred (Bunkum) would carry her books and Augusta would tie his shoelaces. It wasn't long before love bloomed and they were married on August 29, 1952. They were married 52 years until Alfred passed away.
Alfred and Augusta had two sons, Samuel and Steven. Augusta's sons describe her as the best mother in the world. She was a loving, understanding, and kind mother. She allowed the boys to have a variety of animals, such as dogs, snakes (even large ones), turtles, large iguanas, raccoons, squirrels, and even an otter.
Alfred was in the military as an Army Ranger so the family moved to many places, but Augusta made a loving home no matter where they went. They were even in Alaska during the record earthquake and tsunami in 1964.
Samuel and Steven were in grade school when she was introduced to the truth in Alaska. Augusta was baptized on March 13, 1965. She was a faithful sister for over 58 years. Augusta was a deeply spiritual woman who had an impact on many lives. Up until her death, she shared God's love with anyone that would listen.
When she was not teaching others about Jehovah, she was helping her spiritual brothers and sisters. She was often seen providing rides to the elderly, helping wash the hair and feet of a bedridden sister, organizing meals for the sick, and much more.
Augusta was delighted when her grandchildren and great grandchildren were born. Her grandchildren, Krystal, Nicholas, and Jacob were with her practically every day. She deepened their love for Jehovah with her beautiful example and teachings. They describe her as an amazing grandma that was like a second mom.
Augusta had no doubt that when she died, she would be safe in Jehovah's memory until she would be resurrected to a beautiful paradise. - John 5:28,29
Augusta Louise Beeker Dougherty is survived by her two devoted sons, Samuel Dougherty, and Steven (Deborah) Dougherty; four loving grandchildren, Krystal Dougherty Whitaker, Nicholas (Christine) Dougherty, Matthew (Nicole) Larson, Jacob (Nika) Dougherty; four adoring great granddaughters, Samantha Whitaker, Abigail Whitaker, Alexis Larson, and Ella Larson.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday June 17, 2023, at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 5696 Berryhill Road Milton, Florida 32570, at 2:00pm.

Augusta married Alfred Carl Dougherty, son of Andrew Dougherty and Fannie Mae McSweeney, on 29 Aug 1952.¹ (Alfred Carl Dougherty was born on 24 Nov 1934 in Birmingham, Jefferson, AL ^{10 11} and died on 20 Aug 2004 in Milton, Santa Rosa, FL ^{10 11}.)
