The wedding of Miss Paula Rebecca Beeker and James David Carpenter was solemized in Organ Lutheran Church at Salisbury Saturday afternoon at 4 o'clock. The Rev. Ernest W. Ridenhour officiated at the double-ring ceremony, and Mrs. Bruce Sapp rendered a program of organ music.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Beeker of Route 2, Rockwell, and a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School. She received a B.S. degree in English from Applachian State University and is now working on her master's degree there while teaching at Alexander Central High School in Taylorsville.
Mr. Carpenter is the son of J. R. Carpenter of Route 1, Burlington, and the late Clara Chappell Carpenter. He was graduated from Williams High School and Elon College and was a member of Sigma Mu Sigma Fraternity. He is now coach and teacher of social studies at Alexander Central High School at Taylorsville.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a Victorian gown of ivory, accented with lace and styled with Juliet sleeves of organza and A-line skirt. Her matching demi-Camelot headpiece was completed by a floor-length veil. she carried a bouquet of violet mums, carnations and stalice centered with a tiny white Bible.
Miss Carolyn Elaine Beeker, maid of honor for her sister, wore a gown featuring a lilac A-line skirt and print bodice with a a cascade of rosebuds on the cummerbund at the waistline. She wore a picture hat and carried a bouquet of pink carnations, pompons, statice and violets.
Bridesmaids, dressed the same as the honor attendant, were Mrs. Richard Carter, cousin of the bride, Mrs. Ruth Elder, Ms. Joyce Thompson and Mrs. Michael Worthington. They carried white baskets of pink carnations and pompons.
The bridegroom's father served as best man. Ushers were Paul Goodnight, Bob Hopper, Phil Johnston and Eugene Wilson, all of Taylorsville, and an honoray usher, Richard Carter, cousin of the bride.
Ms. Revonda Brady registered guests.
A reception was held in the church fellowship hall immediately after the wedding, and a rehearsal dinner was held at the home of the bride Friday evening.
After a wedding trip, the newlyweds will reside at Taylorsville.

2. Obituary: on 14 Dec 2021 in Mount Airy, Surry, NC. 3 Mr. James David Carpenter, 75 of Mount Airy passed away on Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at Northern Regional Hospital. Mr. Carpenter was born on July 3, 1946, in Alamance County, North Carolina to the late James Raymond and Clara Chappell Carpenter. James served his country during the Vietnam conflict in the United States Navy and the United Sates Marine Corps. Mr. Carpenter was a loving husband of 25 years to Jane Knox Grant Carpenter who passed away in 2011, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be deeply missed by all that knew him. Left to cherish his memories are his three sons and daughters-in-law, Martin Carpenter and wife Traci, Jonathan Carpenter and wife Danna, Robert Carpenter and wife Angela; one stepdaughter, Anne Christine Poetzch; nine grandchildren, Sierra, Summer, Gabby, Hunter, Nate, Kathryn, Grant, Cassidy, and Knox. In addition to his parents, Mr. Carpenter was preceded in death by one brother, James Hunter Carpenter. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 19, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Richard Loman officiating. No formal visitation will be held. In lieu of Flowers donation may be made to a charity of the donator's choice in memory of Mr. Carpenter. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.


James married Paula Rebecca Beeker, daughter of Thomas Lee Beeker and Helen Virginia Sides, on 14 Apr 1973 in Salisbury, Rowan, NC.1 The marriage ended in divorce. (Paula Rebecca Beeker was born on 29 Aug 1950 in Salisbury, Rowan, NC 4.)
