James Alvin Sink, son of Clement W. and Edna Myers Sink, was born 24 March 1913. He married 16 September 1933 Zora Arlene Michael, daughter of Ernest E. Michael and Effie Temple, born 11 June 1912.

To this union were born 4 children: James Ardell Sink, born 20 December 1935; Carlton Wade Sink, born 19 December 1939; Gerald Bruce Sink, born 16 March 1943, died 16 March 1943, (buried at Shiloh Church cemetery); Frances Carolyn Sink, born 7 September 1946.

All were members of Shiloh United Methodist Church.

Alvin started working at Shoaf and Sink Hosiery Mill, then worked at Dixie Furniture, as a foreman. He then went to La-Chap in Welcome, making antique reproductions. Eventually, he opened Sink's Furniture Shop located at his home in Reeds where he built antique reproductions and refinished furniture. He has built and sold corner cupboards, dining room suites, bedroom suites, and over 100 grandfather clocks. He made several pieces of furniture for his home. He semi-retired in 1975, raises a garden, and works around home most of the time.

Arlene worked at Yarbrough Hosiery Mill, and later worked for her brother, Harry Michael, at Donna Lane Manufacturing, making ladies garments. She retired in 1972 and is now a homemaker and companion to Alvin.

Alvin and Arlene have 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

James married Zora Arlene Michael on 16 Sep 1933 in , Davidson, NC, USA.¹ (Zora Arlene Michael was born on 11 Jun 1912 in , , NC,^{1 4} died on 13 Aug 1997 ⁴ and was buried in Lexington: Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery, Davidson, NC, USA ⁴.)
