Cause of Death: Written about in the Blue Book of Schuylkill County as follows. ¹ Michael Zerbe lived on his father Jonathan's place, (Ulmer's Farm), up to the time of his death, which occurred on a winter's night when on coming home from Tremont he lost his bearings and stuck in a snow drift, one hundred yards from his own home, and was frozen to death.

2. Issue: ¹ He had six children by his first wife and one by his second.

Living with them are children listed as if part of the Zerbe household but likely from Polly's first marriage: Sarah, age 23; Susan, 21; Samuel, 17; George, 13; Moses, 11; Leonard, 9; Washington, 7; Valentine, 3; and daughter Francis, 1.
Michael Zerbe is listed between the households of Samuel and Leonard Zerbe, who probably took over the farm of Michael's father, Jonathan, who died in 1846. The father lived next to Michael in earlier Census years.

Michael married Magdalena Bucher, daughter of Johannes Bucher and Anna Maria Knisin. (Magdalena Bucher was born in 1802 in , , Pennsylvania, USA and died in 1846 in Pine Grove Twp., Schuylkill, PA.)
