He was born in the Forsyth County, GA community of Matt to Mr. William Arthur Harris and Mrs. Vesta Grogan Harris. He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Mrs. Norma Jo Pruitt Harris. His survivors include son, Darryl (Michelle) Harris; daughters Dena Harris and Joni Beicher (Tom); grandsons, Jared and Todd Mills; granddaughters, Colleen Harris, Julie Harris Godshall; and six great-grandchildren. While attending Georgia State University he began working at Trust Company of Georgia which later became SunTrust. He retired as Vice President in 1984 after 38 years of service. He held leadership positions in the Bank Administration Institute and Junior Achievement. He was a deacon at Northside Primitive Baptist Church and served as Sec. Treas. of the Primitive Baptist Foundation for over 25 years. In 1961, things took a turn when he was introduced to the game of golf which developed into a passion. After retiring from banking in 1987, he became the Executive Director of the Georgia Senior Golfers Association, a position he held for 20 years. With Norma as his assistant, they enjoyed many travel opportunities and made lasting friendships. Lyndon excelled with building and home improvement projects and he and Norma loved traveling with family, especially cruising.
