Fiddesop Sr., 69, of 345 Edgewood Ave., St Thomas, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 1999, at home. Born Sept. 30, 1929, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late Harry and Mable Irene JettFid- His wife, Ruth Smith, died in 1992. A U.S. Army veteran, he served in the Military Police during the Korean conflict. A steam fitter, he was a 50-year member of Steamfitters Local 602 in Washington. He was also a retired police officer for Brentwood, Md., and a former deputy sheriff for Prince Georges County, Md. He was a member of St. Thomas Volunteer Fire Company, past chief and life member of Hyattsville (Md.) Fire Company; and a member of Friendship Hose Company in Chambersburg; Detrich-Brechbill Post 612 American Legion in St Thomas; St. Thomas Fins Police; Franklin County and Pennsylvania Fire Police Associations; St. Columbia Lodge 150 in La Plata, Md.; Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Prince Georges Forest 139; Landis-McCleaf Marine Corps League and AMVETS Post 224, both in Chambersburg. He served for 30 years as an emergency medical technician. Surviving are two daughters, Cheryl Schmidt of Baltimore and Theresa Lyn Anderson of South Bend, Ind.; a son, Harry J. "Joe" Jr. of St. Thomas; four grandchildren; and a brother-in-law, Robert E. Smith of Laurel, Md. Service will be at 11a.m. Friday in Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home Inc., 6492 Lincoln Way West, St Thomas. The Rev. Donald Nolder will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg. Detrich-Brechbill American Legion Honor Guard will conduct graveside military services. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home, and one hour before the service Friday. For the convenience of friends, the funeral home will be open from 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday. At 8:45 p.m. Thursday, George Washington Lodge will conduct a Masonic memorial service. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Thomas Volunteer Fire Company, P.O. Box 46, St Thomas 17252.
