He was the husband of Leota Zerbe Smith. Bom in Lebanon on June 10, 1910, he was a son of the late Calvin and Gertrude Bannon Smith. He retired as a civil service worker, with 22 years at Middletown and two at Warner Robbins Air Force Base in Georgia. He served for eight years with the Pennsylvania National Guard. He was a member of St. Marks United Church of Christ, Lebanon, the Rescue Hose Co. 4, and NARFE, Lebanon Chapter. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are children Clark L. Smith, Manheim, and Leota Cheryl, wife of Joseph Keisch, Enhaut Steelton; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Rhoda Kercher, Lebanon; brothers Sterling Smith, Schaefferstown, and Chester Smith, Palmyra, and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Miriam Heiser.
