Paul was preceded in death by his father, Rev. Alvin Boettcher, and his mother and father-in-law, Harold and Virginia Pyle.

The son of Alvin and Ruth (Beecher) Boettcher, Paul was born on March 24, 1946, in Waterloo, Iowa. He graduated from UNI in 1968, with a degree in business and was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity.

Paul was a salesman and published Hawkeye Recruiting Notebook for many years. His last few years were filled with family, travel, and following his beloved Hawkeyes.

Paul was instrumental in getting TV coverage for high school sports in Cedar Rapids. He started with a small group of fathers in the College Community School District video taping games and showing them on the local cable channels. As a coach, he gave every child an opportunity to play and had a huge heart for kids.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed in Paul's memory to the Prairie School Foundation Scholarship Fund.


Paul married Jan Pyle in 1968.
