  General Notes:

Jacob S. Bucher as a child never is found living in a Bucher household in any Census, but at age 3 and age 22 he is found living with a Susanna Winehold. Further, she is buried next to Jacob, not with other Wineholds, but rather with Jacob's family and the family of Joel Fassnacht, probably brother of Jacob's wife Catherine Fassnacht.

We therefore believe Susanna Winehold to be Jacob's father, and speculate she was not married to his Bucher father. Further research is needed.

By location, we note that the Bucher family in East Cocolico Township, where Jacob is found as a 3-year old in the census, is that of the 1735 immigrant Hans Bucher. Jacob likely is tied to this line, which can be proven using our Bucher Y-DNA test on any living Bucher male descended from Jacob. Contact jonathan@seachtrees.com for additional evidence that can link him to his father.
