Newspaper: Montgomery Advertiser: Miss Barnes and Dr. Weissinger Wed, 24 Aug 1943, Montgomery, Montgomery, AL. 2 The marriage of Miss Anne Roberts Barnes, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Javes Barnes, to Dr. William Wood Weissinger took place at St. Stephens Episcopal Church, Eutaw, Saturday noon, Aug. 14, with the Rev. Ralph J. Dendall officiating in the presence of relatives and close friends. Mrs. Ralph Kendall, organist, played nuptial selections and the traditional wedding marches. The chancel was decorated with white gladioli and fern. Candelabra burning white candles were placed on the altar. The bride wore a suit of blue wool with cinnamon brown accessories. Her flowers were pink Happy Day roses in corsage bouquet. Following the ceremony, Mr. and Mrs. C. M. A. Rogers, uncle and aunt of the bride, entertained with a luncheon. The bride is a granddaughter of the late Judge Byron Breckenridge Barnes and Victoria Wildman Barnes, of Eutaw. Her maternal grandparents were Thomas Jefferson Anderson and Elizabeth Lyles Anderson, also of Eutaw. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. David Weissinger, of Browns, Ala. Maternally he is a descendant of the Tubbs and Lavendar families of Marion. Both the bride and groom attended Alabama Polytechnic Institute, she being a member of Theta Epsilon sorority and he of Kappa Alpha and Omega Tau Sigma fraternities. The couple will reside in Eutaw. 2. Obituary: Selma Times-Journal: obituary of William Wood Weissinger on 20 Aug 2000 in Selma, Dallas, AL. 5 William Wood Weissinger, 79, of Browns, died Friday, Aug. 18, 2000 at a local hospital. Graveside services are at 3:30 p.m. Sunday. Aug. 20, at Bell Church Cemetery. Browns, with the Rev. DeWitte Holland and the Rev. Glenn Taylor officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing. Survivors include his wife Emily Sherer Weissinger and his daughters and their husbands, Ginger and Butch Wilson of Browns and Fran and David Pearce of Browns, one son, David Weissinger of Houston, Texas; his grandchildren, Lynn and David Pearce Jr. of Selma, Dea and Willard Powe, Travis Wilson and Will Pearce all of Browns; Beth Weissinger and David Weissinger of Houston, Texas; great-grandchildren, Trey and Carrie Lea Powe and Jackson Pearce. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Carolyn Woodfin Weissinger and his parents, Frances Marion and David Hogue Weissinger of Browns. Active pallbearers are Randolph Oxford, Holt Hamlett, James Whidby, Jessie Englett, Sam Givhan, James Woodfin and Sonny Woodfin. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Orrville Baptist Church, P.O. Box 236, Orrville. AL 36767 or to a favorite charity of your choice. Dr. Weissinger graduated from Alabama Polytechnic Institute in 1941 with a degree in veterinary medicine. He was a cattle farmer and practicing veterinarian in Dallas County until his semi-retirement in the late 70s. Dr. Weissinger continued to enjoy taking part in his farm operation until his death. He was a lifetime member of the Orrville Baptist Church. William married Anne Roberts Barnes on 14 Aug 1943 in Eutaw, Greene, AL.1 2 (Anne Roberts Barnes was born on 20 Nov 1921 in Eutaw, Greene, AL,6 7 died on 23 Nov 1998 in Seabrook, Harris, TX 6 7 and was buried in Eutaw, Greene, AL 7.)
