Cole, 94, former Hobart College treasurer, city clerk and Ontario County treasurer, bank director and church officer and Mason, died yesterday (Sept. 16, 1963) in Geneva General Hospital.
Mr. Cole and his wife, Lucy M. Beechert Cole, lived at 123 N. Brook St.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 10 in the Bennett Funeral Home, 224 North St., and at 10:30 in St. Peter's Episcopal Church, where Rev. Norman Remmel, rector, will conduct the service. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery. Friends may call today at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Contributions may be made to the St. Peter's Church Memorial Fund. Born in Rensselaerville June 21, 1869, of Dutch ancestry, Mr. Cole was educated there and began his working career as a teacher in Albany County. He came to Geneva in 1887 as a bookkeeper for a coal firm and later was manager for it when it expanded into the hay and grain business.
In 1909 Mr. Cole was elected treasurer of Ontario County and gained reelection three times. In 1918 he was chosen president of the Farmers and Merchants Bank which went through a series of mergers and which today is the Geneva branch of the Lincoln-Rochester Trust Co. An active Republican, Mr. Cole served Geneva as city clerk from 1898 to 1902.
Mr. Cole had served on many city boards and commissions. He served in innumerable civic and fraternal activities through the years. He was an Elk, a life member of Hydrant Hose Co. and one of the founders of Seneca Lake Country Club.

It names the widow, Mrs. Lucy M. Cole of 123 Brook St., Geneva, and Lincoln Rochester Trust Co. as co-executors with the bank as trustee. The sum of $10,000 goes to each of the following: Cora Cole Reynolds, sister, of Westerlo, N.Y.; Mildred Atkins, niece, also of Westerlo; $5,000 goes to Marie S. Shaw, grandniece, Westerlo; Edwin and Gerald Beechert, step-sons, of Greenville and Oak Hill; $500 to Edith Ives, grandniece, Hensonville. The widow is left $5,000 in cash, all household and personal effects and the residue, in trust.
