Another name for John was Rev. Henry Anspach.1 Noted events in his life were: 1. Obituary: Reading Eagle on 14 May 1904 in Reading, Berks, PA. 3 Rev. John M. Anspach, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and one of the best known Lutheran divines in Central Pennsylvania died at Williamsport on Friday. He was 64 years old. He was born in Mifflinburg, PA, and was a graduate of the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg. His first charge was at Mifflinburg. From there he came to St. Matthews's in Reading in 1872, remaining here until 1877. In 1877 he was called to the pulpit of Christ Lutheran Church, Easton, where he remained until 1890, when he accepted a call from St. Paul's, Williamsport, where he lived until the time of his death. John married Lydia Catherine Bucher, daughter of Rev. John Casper Bucher and Anna Eliza Frey, on 27 Jun 1865.1 (Lydia Catherine Bucher was born on 3 Oct 1838 in Middletown, Frederick, MD,1 4 5 died on 18 Mar 1921 in Williamsport, Lycoming, PA 1 5 and was buried in Easton, Northampton, England 5.) |
