2. Obituary: The Morning Call on 15 May 1986 in Allentown, Lehigh, Pennsylvania, United States. ² The Rev. Louis Ewald, 69, of Allentown, died Wednesday in Allentown Hospital. He was the husband of Emeline (Bucher) Ewald. They observed their 43rd wedding anniversary last June.
He was pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church, Pen Argyl, for 17 years until retiring in 1979. He previously ministered at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wernersville, four years; Zion Lutheran Church, Egg Harbor City, N.J., 14 years, and Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Philadelphia, two years.
A 1939 graduate of Muhlenberg College, he received a master's degree in theology from Mount Airy Theological Seminary in 1942.
Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Heinrick and Amalia (Riediger) Ewald.
He was a member of Jordan Lutheran Church, Orefield R.1.
Surviving with his widow are three sons, Michael L. of Coopersburg, Dr. Franklin H. of Lehighton R.4 and Dr. John L. of Falmouth, Mass.; a sister, Lydia Della Loggia of Browns Mills, N.J., and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Jordan Lutheran. There will be no calling hours.
The Trexler Funeral Home, 1625 Highland St., Allentown, is in charge of arrangements.

Louis married Emma Elizabeth Bucher, daughter of Rev. Jonas Franklin Bucher Jr and Olive May Miller.
