He signed a will Will Book C 1 493 on 2 Feb 1778 in Lebanon, Lebanon, Pennsylvania, United States. 6 John Heckendorn In the name of God Amen This second day of February in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy eight I John Heckendorn of Lebanon township in the County of Lancaster and Province of Pennsylvania Yeoman being at present sick and weak in Body but never theless of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding thanks be to God therefore calling into mind the mortality of my Body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament that is to say principally and first of all I recommend my soul in the hands of God who gave it hoping through the merits of our Savior Jesus Christ to receive a free pardon of all my sins and an happy admittance into the regions of Bliss. My Body I recommend to the Earth to be Buried in a Christian-like and decent manner and touching such worldly goods wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life I give devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form. Imprimis it is my Will and I do order in the first place that all my just debts and funeral Charges be paid and satisfied as soon as conveniently may be after my decease. Item I give devise and Bequeath unto my beloved Wife Catherine all that my Messuage Tenement and lot of Ground where I now live situate in the Town of Lebanon aforesaid fronting on Cumberland Street together with all the Appurtenances thereunto belonging to hold to her the said Catherine her Heirs and assigns forever Item I give and bequeath unto her my said Wife all and singular my personal Estate of what kindsoever the same may be to and for her own and sole use To hold to her, her Heirs and assigns forever to the Intent and purpose to act and do with the same as to her shall seem meet and no other person or persons whomsoever shall have any right title or Interest in and to the same or of an or to any part or parcel thereof. And lastly I do hereby nominate and appoint my said beloved wife Catherine to be the Executrix of this my last Will and Testament. thereby revoking disannulling and making void all former and other Testaments and Executors by me heretofore made and ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I the said John Heckendorn have hereunto set my Hand and seal the day and Year first above Written John Heckendorn (signature)

Lancaster County - The 7th day of April 1778 Before me the Subscriber came Philip Mausteller and George Noll the Witnesses to the within written Will, and on their corporal oaths did declare and say that they were present and saw and heard John Heckedorn Sign seal publish pronounce and declare the same writing as and for his last Will and Testament and that at the doing thereof he was of Sound and Disposing mind memory and understanding according to the Best of their knowledge observation and belief Jno. Be it remembered that on the 7 day of April 1778 the last Will and Testament of John Heckendorn Deceased was proved in due form of Law and Probate and Letters Testamentary were granted unto Catherine Heckedorn the sole Executrix named in the said Will she being first duly Qualified to Administer the Estate of the said Decedent and bring an Inventory thereof into the Registers office at Lancaster on or before the 7 day of May next and also to Render an account when thereto lawfully required. Given under the Seal of the said Office Jno. Hubley Regr. Recorded & examined with the original 28 June 1778 John Hubley Regr.
2. Book: The Heckendorn-Heckathorn family in America, 1736-1982, 1985. 4 Daniel's oldest son, John (Johannes), married Maria Catherine Hamman on 21 August 1770 in Lebanon. John died in 1778 and his will mentions no children. His widow, Catherine, married Johan Jacob Bicher on 11 April 1779. When she died in 1830 her obituary noted that she had three children.
Johannes married Anna Maria Catharine Hamman, daughter of Baltzer Hamman and Anna Margaretha Zimmerman, on 21 Aug 1770 in North Annville Twp.: Hill Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lebanon, PA.1 2 (Anna Maria Catharine Hamman was born on 25 Sep 1747 in South Whitehall Twp., Lehigh County, PA 5 7 8 9, christened on 8 Nov 1747 in South Whitehall Twp., Lehigh County, PA,10 died on 8 Dec 1830 in Lebanon, Lebanon, PA 5 7 8 9 and was buried in Dec 1830 in Lebanon: Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lebanon, PA 5 7 9 11.)
