Obituary: Scranton Tribune: obituary of Harris Beecher on 16 Aug 1898 in Scranton, Lackawanna, PA. 1 Harris Beecher, one of Pike township's pioneers died at his son's home last Monday at LeRaysville, having been in failing health for several years. He was born on the old homestead about three miles about LeRaysville on March 10, 1820. His father, Samuel Beecher was born in Connecticut in Litchfiled county and moved to this part of Bradford county when it was yet a wilderness. At the age of 24 he was united in marriage to Elvira Pierce, of a family well known in this section and from their union six children were born, four of whom survive him, his wife having died the winer of 1873. To mourn his death are four children: George W. Beecher, John B. Beecher, and H. Ward Beecher, of LeRaysville and Mrs. G. L. Light, of Moosie.
Harris married Elvira Pierce in 1844 in , Bradford, PA.1 (Elvira Pierce was born in 1825 in Pike Twp., Bradford, PA,6 died on 3 Jan 1874 in , Bradford, PA 6 and was buried in Le Raysville: Le Raysville Cemetery, Bradford, PA 6.)
