Since no one else was buried in the cemetery at such an early date this is obviously a typo in the birth year. Further research is needed to determine who this was, most likely, the death of George Horter Bucher born 1865. Noted events in his life were: 1. Occupation: merchant in Clinton, Clinton, IA. 6 He followed in the footsteps of his father John Conrad Bucher who was at one time a merchant in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, opening the first dry goods store in Clinton County, Iowa. 2. He was employed in 1842 in Harrisburg, Dauphin, PA. 7 Listed in the H. Napey's 1842 Directory of Harrisburg, PA: 3. He was employed in 1845 in Harrisburg, Dauphin, PA. 8 Listed in the 1845 Spofford & Napey's Directory of Harrisburg, PA are: 4. Census in 1860 in Clinton Twp., Clinton Co, IA. 9 John C. Bucher, age 30, dry goods merchant, has real estate valued at $20,000 and possessions worth $10,000. Living with him is wife Isabella M., age 25; and daughters Susan, 3, and Ellen, 2. The children were born in Iowa and both parents in Pennsylvania. Also with them are Ellen Comer, 25, servant, and Thomas Fleming, 19, porter, both born in Ireland. The post office is Clinton City. 5. He was elected as Mayor in 1861 in Clinton, Clinton, IA. On the 19\super th\nosupersub of April, a large and enthusiastic meeting was held in Clinton presided over by Mayor John C. Bucher and Dennis Whitney, Secretary.
