Phaon F. Diehl, a retired farmer and butcher, residing at Guthsville, was born in Lowhill 9/15/1838. His youth was spent upon the farm and for about five years he followed the carpenter trade. He lived at Lyons for 11 years, where he followed the butcher business. He conducted the Farmers' and Drovers' Hotel at Stony Point in Rockland Township, Berks County, from 1878 to 1883. He then moved to Lowhill, where he purchased a 74 acre farm, which he conducted until 1905, when he sold it to George Hardner. He then purchased the Frank Miller homestead at Guthsville, where he now resides. He believes in the principles of the Democratic Party. He filled the office of school director in Lowhill Township for six years.

2. Obituary: in 1920 in , Lehigh, PA. Phaon Diehl, an age farmer died Saturday evening at his residence, the home of his son-in-law Horace Kuhns, 1028 Allen St., Allentown PA. He was 81 years.

Mr. Diehl had been ailing for many years with ailments incident to old age and was bedfast for six months. He was born in Lowhill Township, the son of Benjamin and Catherine, and was a farmer in that section until 13 years ago, when he retired and took up residence in Guthsville, moving to Allentown in 1917, to reside with his daughter.

He was a member of Morgenland Reformed Church. He is survived by wife Lizzie (Seibert) Diehl; the following sons and daughters: Frank of this city; Charles of Guthsville; George of South Whitehall; and Mrs. Horace Kuhns with whom he resided; one brother Benjamin of Allentown; and the following stepbrothers and sisters: Mrs Oscar Sclosser of Allentown; Mrs. Henry Blank of Lehighton; Richard Diehl of Bethlehem; Josiah Diehl of Bethlehem; Josiah Diehl of Binger, NJ; and Granville Diehl of Mountainville.
