Bernard was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, the Pennsylvania Catholic Beneficial League, and the Gettysburg Elks' lodge.

He operated a dairy serving the Gettysburg area with milk products formore than 20 years. In 1955, he sold his Cumberland Township farm to the late General Dwight D. Eisenhower. He served three terms as a schooldirector in Cumberland Township.

Mr. Redding owned and operated a grocery store at the corner of Chambersburg and Franklin Street in Gettysburg for nine years. Afterselling his grocery store, he was employed at the Letterkenny Ordnance Depot until his retirement. He was one of the last surviving conductors of the trolley line that operated from Gettysburg to Round Top years ago.


Bernard married Maude A. Bucher, daughter of Larkin John Bucher and Minnie E. Bushey. (Maude A. Bucher was born about 1890 in , , Pennylvania, USA, died on 26 Jun 1961 and was buried in Gettysburg: St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Adams, PA.)
