2. Census in 1870 in Locust Twp., Columbia, PA. ⁶ John Bucher, age 29, farmer, is living next door to his father, George. John is listed with wife Frances, 22; Charles E., 1; and his brother, James Bucher, 16.

George Bucher, age 53, farm laborer, is living with wife Sarah, 50; Lewis, 21, "without occupation"; George, 8; and son Ambrose, 6.

Charles E. Bucher, a farmer of Franklin township, Columbia county, was born Sept. 16, 1868, son of John and Frances (Kostenbauder) Bucher.

George Bucher, his grandfather, married Sarah Deener, and among their children was John. John Bucher was a tailor, and lived at Sunbury, Pa. However, he was buried in the little graveyard at McIntyre, and his wife rests by his side.

Charles E. Bucher, son of John Bucher, grew up a farmer and worked as an agriculturist in different places. In 1894 he purchased from Christian Artley fifty-eight acres of land in Franklin township, which he has developed until it is a valuable property, devoted principally to garden truck, which he sells at the nearest market. For five years Mr. Bucher served as a school director, has been constable and is now a justice of the peace, in every walk of life displaying those excellent traits of character which have aided him in his successful career, industry, steadfastness, and thrift. He is a director of the Mutual Fire Insurance Company.

Mr. Bucher married Lizzie Munson, daughter of D.A. Munson, and the following children have been born of this marriage: Helen, Margaret, Louisa, Francis, and Mercy, all of whom are being educated in the State Normal School at Bloomsburg.

John married Frances E. Kostenbauder, daughter of Daniel Kostenbauder and Frances Klingerman, on 13 Feb 1868 in Catawissa, Columbia, PA.¹ (Frances E. Kostenbauder was born on 1 Feb 1848,^{7 8} died in 1918 in , Columbia, PA ⁸ and was buried in Catawissa: McIntyre Cemetery, Columbia, PA ⁸.)
