Mrs. Emma Bucher, 86, mother of Miss Elizabeth Bucher, clerk in the office of the Register and Recorder at the local court house, passed away at 1:30 a.m. Saturday in her home at Riverside. She had been ill for the past 17 months.

She was the widow of Samuel Bucher, who died nine years to the day on which his widow died. She is a former resident of Sunbury, and had many friends here who mourn her passing.

The deceased was a member of the Methodist church. She is survived by the two daughters, Mrs. Clara Wolverton, and Miss Elizabeth Bucher of Sunbury; a sister, Mrs. George W. Roat of Danville.

Private funeral services will be held from the late home on Avenue E. at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. The Rev. Kenneth Gearhart, rector of Christ Episcopal church, Danville, will officiate and burial will be made in the Kase cemetery, Riverside.


Emma married Samuel Diemer Bucher, son of George W. Bucher and Sarah Diemer, on 24 May 1868 in Catawissa: St. John's Lutheran Church, Columbia, PA.1 (Samuel Diemer Bucher was born on 25 Dec 1845 in Sunbury, Northumberland, PA,2 3 6 died on 3 Apr 1928 2 4 and was buried in Riverside: Kase Cemetery, Northumberland, PA.)
