Bucher, 61, of 616 South Front street, was critically injured and is a patient in the Mary M. Packer hospital, suffering with a fractured skull, a severly crushed left arm, fractures of several ribs and a badly lacerated scalp. His condition is critical.
Mr. Bucher was injured about 7:35 o'clock when he fell from a gondola coal car on which he was riding while working with shifting crew No. 17 on the P. R. R. "Y" to the rear of the Reading railroad towers at Third and Penn streets.
There were three cars in the draft, which was being pushed ahead of the shifting engine, and Mr. Bucher was riding on the rear of the first car.
Although reports received at the local railroad offices gave no inkling of how the man fell, and Mr. Bucher was in no condition to make a statement, belief was expressed that he had been jolted from his position.
