Wed to Alan J. Werner in Santee Hall; Father Performs Ceremony.
The marriage of Miss Adeline Wolfe Bucher, daughter of Rev. and Mrs. J. Frank Bucher, of 330 College avenue, and Alan John Werner, son of Mr. and Mrs. John A. Werner, of Orwigsburg, was solemnized this afternoon at 4 o'clock in Santee Hall, Reformed Theological seminary. The ceremony performed the bride's father, a missionary to China on furlough, in the presence of a number of relatives and close friends.
Preceding the ceremony a fifteen minute organ recital was played by Miss Edna J. Mentzer, organist of St. Paul's M. E. church, who also played the wedding marches.
She played Venetian Love Song, Nevin; Calm as the Night, Bohm; Swedish Wedding March, Sodermann, and other selections and during the ceremony played Liebestraum, by Liszt. Miss Emmie E. Bucher, sister of the bride, sang "A Love Song," Jessie Moore Wise; "Serenade," Sigmund Romberg; and "Because," Guy D'Hardelot. The bride was attended by Miss Louise Albright, of Allentown, as maid of honor, and the bridesmaids were: Misses Martha A. and Olive M. Bucher, sisters of the bride; Miss Janet Brubaker, Miss Pauline Hinkle and Misses Mary and Ruth Burkholder. The best man was Charles Albert Siegfried, of Crwigsburg; and ushers were Theodore Starr, of Valley View; and Walter Zimmerman, of Orwigsburg. The bride wore a white organdy made in Colonial style with a long, full, ruffled skirt, a fischu and gown puffed elbow sleeves. Her tulle veil was fastened with a band of pearls and she carried an arm bouquet of white roses and larkspur. The attendants wore organdy gowns in pastel shades.
The maid of honor wore green made with a ruffled skirt and a bertha edged with ruffles of the material Miss Martha Bucher wore lavender organdy, Miss Olive Bucher, peach colored; Miss Brubaker, turquoise blue; Miss Hinkle, Miss Mary Burkholder, golden brown; and Miss Ruth Burkholder, medium blue. All wore organdy turbans to match their gowns and carried mixed garden flowers. Miss Mentzer wore yellow organdy. Mrs. Bucher, mother of the bride, wore corn colored organdy and the bridegroom's mother wore flowered crepe de chine.
An informal tea at the home of the bride's parents followed the ceremony after which the couple left on a wedding trip. They will be at home the middle of September at State College. The bride is a graduate of Cedar Crest college. Mr. Werner is a graduate of Franklin and Marshall college received his M. A. degree at State College. He is a graduate assistant the physics department at State College.
