George Petry 1
Another name for George was Johannes George Petree. FamilySearch ID: LHRY-G9B. Noted events in his life were: 1. He was naturalized on 24 Sep 1762 in , Lancaster, PA. 2. Property on 5 Nov 1765 in Brecknock Twp., Lancaster, PA. 2 The township of Brecknock, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, was set- led mainly during 1738, and June 15th of that year a warrant for 200 acres in that township was issued to Jacob Hoofstetler. This doubtless was the first land owned in this country by our ancestor. He held this land but a short time, and there is on record no deed by which he transferred it. The land however was surveyed, November 5th, 1765, for George Petry, in right of Jacob Hoofstetler, and was patented May 16th, 1829, by John Lesher, Jr. Many old deeds are not on record, and the records at Lancaster do not show to whom John Lesher, Jr., transferred this land. 3. He signed a will in 1767. The will index to Lancaster County shows a George Petry in 1767. Further research needed. George married Catherine Baer. |
