In 1632 John Vautrin was Mayor of Kirrberg. He was likely the father or grandfather of John Peter Vautrin. John Peter was born in 1640. He was an elder in the Reformed Church and a miller at Hellering. He died April 12, 1713 and was buried at Kirrberg. Two of his sons and at least two of his grandsons were millers. He had sons: Peter, Abraham, Jacob and John. Peter II was living at Kirrberg in 1699. In 1703 he moved to Hellering; in 1713 to Berthelming, three miles west of Kirrberg, where he was a miller. This is the last record of him. Jacob lived first at Hellering, later at Kirrberg. He and his brother, John, married sisters. His son, John Daniel, was born at Hellering and lived at Kirrberg from the time of his marriage in 1733 to Eva Kuntz, until he went to America in 1739. John apparently left the region, for there is no record after his marriage in 1705.

Abraham, son of Peter (1640-1713), was a miller at Fénétrange. He married Catharine Brodt, daughter of Simon Brodt, Burgomaster of Lixheim, five miles to the southeast. The Brodt family was Swiss in origin. Abraham had sons: Abraham, Peter and Samuel. Peter may have died young. Abraham II on March 19 1723 married (Anna) Margaret, daughter of Peter Mertz of Hangviller. There were Mertzes on the ship which brought Abraham II and family to America in 1733. Abraham II moved to Hirschland about 1725, where he was a miller. His mill and house were standing in 1918, when Laux visited there. Samuel on July 18 1736 married (Mary) Elizabeth, daughter of Henry and Johanna (Buchi) Becker of Pisdorf. She was born in 1721. Samuel was a miller at Pisdorf until he went to America in 1749. This was a period of extensive migration to Pennsylvania.

Abraham married Maria Catharine Brodt, daughter of Simon Brodt and Anna Maria Beck, about 1697 in Lixheim, , Lorraine, FRA.1 (Maria Catharine Brodt was born in 1676 in Lixheim, , Lorraine, FRA 1 and died in 1750 in Diedendorf, Bas-Rhin, Alsace, FRA.)
