Mary 1 2General Notes: Since Jacob is living with his children and no wife in the 1850 and 1860 census, one must assume that the Mary living alone with him in 1870 is not the mother of his children, but more likely a second wife. Noted events in her life were: 1. Census in 1870 in Straban Twp., Adams, PA. 1 Jacob Bucher, 67, farmer, was living with wife Mary, 55 [could be 58]. His farm was worth $3,500 and personal estate $3,000. Everyone and their parents were born in Pennsylvania. The post office was Granite Hill. 2. Census in 1880 in Straban Twp., Adams, PA. 2 Jacob Bucher, farmer, 77, was living with wife Mary, 65. Next door is his son Henry Bucher, farmer, 52, with his wife Elizabeth, 48. Everyone and their parents were born in Pennsylvania. Mary married Jacob Bucher Jr., son of Jacob Bucher Sr. and Elizabeth. (Jacob Bucher Jr. was born on 19 Jan 1803 in , Adams, PA,3 4 died on 4 Apr 1885 in Straban Twp., Adams, PA 4 and was buried in New Oxford: St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery (The Pines), Adams, PA 4.) |
