GREETING: We command you that you summon Frederick S. Leaf, Thomas Boyd and Mary his wife, late Mary Leaf; William Leaf, Harlan Leaf, Edmund Leaf, and Daniel H. Beecher and Elizabeth his wife, late Elizabeth Leaf; also, George Leaf, Mary Leaf, Anna Leaf, Amelia Leaf, Richard Leaf, deceased; and Hrny Potts, executor, &c. of Julia Leaf, deceased, (defendants) of your county, so that they be and appear before our County Court of Common Pleas, there to be holden at Norristown, in and for said county, on the TWENTIETH day of February next, to answer Samuel Ovenshine, (plaintiff) of a plea, wherefore, whereas, the said plaintiff and the said defendants together and undivided do hold a certain suage, tenement and lot of land, situate in the borough of Pottstown, in the county of Montgomery aforesaid, bounded by lands of Theodore Skean, Isaac Smith and others, being one town lot in the general plan of said borough, No. They the said defendants partition thereof between them according to the laws and customs of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, to be made, do gainsay, and the same to be done, do not permit, very unjustly and contrary to the same laws and customs, &c.

Rev. Edmund Leaf, D. D., was a native of Pottstown, where he was born in 1818. He died at Birdsboro, in Berks county, Pennsylvania, in 1890. He was a rector of St. Gabriel's Episcopal church at Douglassville from 1844 to 1876. His father, George Leaf, was a pioneer merchant of Pottstown, and died there in 1823. His children: George, Thomas, William, Harlan, Edmund, Mary, Anna, Julia, Elizabeth. Mary married Thomas Boyd. Elizabeth married Daniel H. Beecher, for many years a prominent merchant of Pottstown. Edmund was the last survivor of the family.


Elizabeth married Daniel Herr Beecher, son of William Beecher and Elisabeth M. Herr, on 17 Mar 1842 in Pottstown: Christ Episcopal Church, Montgomery, PA.1 2 (Daniel Herr Beecher was born on 29 Mar 1818 in Hagerstown, Washington, MD 3 10 11 12 13, christened in Hagerstown: Zion Reformed Church, Washington, MD,10 died on 21 Jan 1892 in Pottstown, Montgomery, PA 11 12 14 15 and was buried in Pottstown: Edgewood Cemetery, Montgomery, PA 11 12.)
