STARRETT, JOHN. Born in Chester County, Penna., March 14, 1757. He served in the Pennsylvania militia and was pensioned April 15, 1833. He came to Ohio from Westmoreland Co., Penna., in 1818, and settled in Mifflin township. He was a resident of the township until his death in 1840. He is buried at Gahanna.
Inscription - "In memory of John Starrett, who was born in Chester Co., Penna., on the 14th of March, A.D. 1757 and after spending a long life as a pilgrim, traveller and sojourner in this world, he calmly resigned this life and bid adieu to this world and its pleasures on the morning of the 25th day of January, 1840, in the hope of a blessed immortality beyond the grave, at the advanced age of 82 years, 10 months and 11 days."
