She had birthed 4 children, 3 alive in 1900: Chester E., 11, Dec 1888; Alta E., 10, Jan 1890; and Ruth J., 2, May 1898. He was a laborer in a paper mill. Everyone and their parents were born in Indiana, except William's parents were from Pennsylvania.

Watson Vance, a former Crawfordsville boy, who is now machine operator for the Vaudette Theater at Hartford City, was married this week to Miss Alta Beecher, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Beecher of Hartford City. The ceremony occurred at the home of the bride's parents, where the newly wedded couple will reside for a while. Watson Vance is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Vance, now of Bradley, Ill. He has many friends in Crawfordsville.

Also in the home is Opal Williams, 19; Opal's daughter Helen Williams, 1 year 1 month; Watson P. Vance, 38; Alta Vance, 29; Thelma Vance, 11; William Vance, 9; and Pauline Vance, 1 year 5 months. Everyone was born in Indiana except the elder William, Helen, and Pauline were born in Pennsylvania.

4. Census in 1930 in Conshohocken, Montgomery, PA. ⁶ The 1930 census recorded renting for $40 a month at 426 E. 9th Avenue: Alta E. Vance, widowed, living with daughter Thelma V., cashier in cut rate store, 21; son William W., radio man in radio store, 19; and daughter Pauline, 11. Also in the home were sister Opal M. Fernside, widowed, 29, no occupation, and her daughters Dorothy A., 6, and Louella, 5. Alta,Thelma, William, and Opal were born in Indiana, and Pauline, Dorothy, and Louella in Pennsylvania.

5. Census in 1940 in Conshohocken, Montgomery, PA. ⁷ The 1940 census recorded renting for $45 a month at 154 Township Line Rd. William E. Schuck, foreman in instrument making, 42, and his wife Thelma V. Schuck, 31; and son William E. Schuck, 1. Also in the home was widowed mother-in-law Alta E. Vance, cutter girl at paper manufacturer, 49. In 1935 they lived in Germantown in Philadelphia, except Alta lived in Conshohoken. Also in the was a lodger, Albert Horner, florist, 31, single.

Mrs. Alta (Beecher) Vance, 74, widow of Watson Vance, 10 W. Township Line Road, Washington Square Gardens, died suddenly this morning at that residence.
Mrs. Vance was born in Hartford City, Ind., Jan 12, 1891, a daughter of the late William P. and Louella (Creek) Beecher.
Her son, William, died May 7, 1965. She is survived by two daughters, Thelma, wife of William E. Schuck, with whom she lived at the W. Townshp Line address, and Pauline, wife of Alex Pilecki, Creamery; eight grand-children; three great-grand-children; one sister, Mrs. Opal Fernside, Chalfont, and two brothers, William Beecher, Conshocken, and Watson Beecher, Miami, Fla.
Funeral arrangements are pending with the Boyd Funeral Home, 718 Swede St.

Alta married Watson Piatt Vance, son of William Watson Vance and Susanna Jane McGaillard, on 12 Apr 1908 in Hartford City, Blackford, IN.
